You’ve seen your share of console tables in your time. Often they are used in an entryway, foyer, hall or living room. Their general purpose is to be a tabletop where you can place commonly used items or display art, photos and collectibles. Some console tables even have drawers and shelves so things can stay organized and out of sight. But there is another kind of console tables that has an additional function – the folding console table.
At first glance, a folding console table looks much like any of its console cousins; like a small table that is set off to the side. But it is when you are entertaining or just need a little extra table space that you get to experience the versatility that a folding console table can add to your living space.
Fold out leafs can turn a folding console table into a game table or card table in seconds. Think about the old rickety card table you have been using. First, it’s annoying to have to haul it out of the closet and pop the legs open for a rousing game of Canasta. Things only get worse when someone tries to put their drink down while playing the game. That wobbly table is going to shift any time it gets the slightest touch, and a drink may go, spilling onto the carpet and ruining your game and floor covering. With a folding console table, that nightmare is gone. Instead, you can rely on a sturdy piece of furniture that can be quickly folded out into a card table, but will hold fast as you are using it. When you are done, you can fold it back up. And, since it is such a beautiful piece of furniture, it can stay in the living room instead of having to be hidden away in embarrassment in a closet.
Folding console tables are good for more than playing cards or Scrabble, of course. They are also great for other aspects of entertaining. If you have guests over and need a space to place appetizers or set up drinks, a few folds of the table leafs will give you that space. Better yet, think of a large family meal. You have a buffet, but it has been overrun with the food items and all the trappings that go along with the meal. Enter the folding console table. You can open the leaves of the table right beside the buffet and you have instantly added another solid, workable space that is sturdy and will hold up honorably to the weight of the food and the people pushing their way to the great eats.
You may even want to make a folding console table one of your permanent buffet items. If you have a table that has additional storage space, such as drawers and shelves, this could be where you store the silverware and other serving items, so you always know where they are when mealtime arrives.
When at rest, a folding console table can look like a simple piece of furniture. But when you need it most, it provides a priceless addition to your entertainment arsenal.
